Good weather is hard to come by here in the UK but when we are privileged with warm, sunny days the temperatures can rise quite quickly. Some species are more sensitive to temperature changes, for example the fungus gardens of leaf cutter ants. It is imperative that you are able to keep a stable temperature without fluctuations. Here are a few tips to keep your ants cool!
- If you keep your ants in a room which receives full sunlight, consider moving them to a different room to avoid high temperatures
- If your ants get too hot, use a fan to help chill the room and control the temperatures
- Leafcutter ant keepers be wary, temperatures above 30C can prove fatal for the Queen and fungus, so take extra precautions!
